The California Highway Patrol was investigating an apparent suicide in a car along the transition lanes from west state Route 94 to north Interstate 805 Tuesday morning. The driver appeared to have shot himself and a gun lay inside the car, CHP Officer Tommy Doerr said. A Freeway Service Patrol driver discovered the body when stopping to find out why the car was parked on the shoulder of the transition lanes about 6 a.m., Doerr said. He said the driver did not respond, so the vehicle assistance worker called 911. Paramedics found that the driver was dead. CHP officers were handling the incident. Doerr said the traffic lanes were not blocked.
